Best Practices in Unit Design for All Teachers

Every one of us has a unit in our repertoire that doesn’t do for our students what we want it to, or we are looking at planning a new unit, but not sure how to start or what to do to ensure that it is the best unit possible for promoting real learning for our students. This course will focus on hands-on unit design using recognized best practices in pedagogy, giving each of its students something to immediately implement in his or her classroom. We will emphasize teaching for concept attainment, establishing and using core vocabulary as a bank of core knowledge for students, and we will pull from advanced placement strategies, strategies in backwards unit design, and much, much more!
