The Bully Free Classroom

Every day, students are teased, intimidated, harassed, and hurt by other students. Bullying is a big problem in our schools and educators can do something about it. This course will help all educators and staff members to create a classroom/school environment where everyone feels safe, accepted and valued. It will help you to identify and empower victims of bullying as well as act quickly and effectively when learning of a bullying incident. Participants will also learn how to effectively communicate with parents while establishing a zero-tolerance policy for bullying. This course is a must for all educators K-12.


Teachers enrolled in this course will...

Know

  1. the difference between the facts and myths of bullying.
  2. district and/or building policies against bullying.
  3. cyberbullying and its harmful effects.

Understand

  1. how they can help prevent bullying in their classes and schools.
  2. that bullying manifests itself in many different kinds of behaviors, some of which are more easily noticed than others.
  3. myths and misconceptions about bullying, bullies and the bullied.

and Be Able To

  1. establish classroom rules and consequences that promote zero-tolerance for bullying.
  2. identify and diffuse a bullying situation.
  3. communicate effectively with parents of both bullies and victims.
